BEČEJ AT NIGHT
Becej at night is a manifestation of fun – musical character organized by the municipality of Becej. It was held for the first time in 2017, when the central city square was reconstructed, and it is held every year in June. The event, which takes place on the town square, was well attended and covered by the media, marked by concerts of famous music groups and performers, as well as cultural and artistic events at the City Theater (Short Film Review, exhibitions…)
Winter Festival ’’Zimske čarolije’’
The Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Bečej organizes a two-day Zimske čarolije (Winter Charms) event in Bečej, which coincides with the New Year holidays and aims to provide attendees of all ages, a rich and varied program to help them get into the holiday spirit. Together with the extensive array of activities offered at the New Year’s Bazaar, child-friendly workshops, activities and musical performances, one can expect to spend some time with Santa Claus and partake in an essential tasting of mulled wine and schnapps (rakija).
FOLK FEST
Folk Fest is an international, three-day, folklore festival that takes place every year in August. Maintains. The organizer of the event, which is being held on the town square in Becej, is the Cultural Art Society “Djido” from Becej, under the auspices of the municipality of Becej.
The festival is dedicated to folklore and connects the traditions and cultures of the people, who live in different areas and continents. The importance of the festival is also evidenced by the fact that it is under the auspices of UNESCO.
INTERNATIONAL FANTAST MUSIC COMPETITION
The teaching staff at the School for Primary Music Education “Petar Konjović” Bečej came up with the idea to organize an international music competition, with the aim of establishing cooperation with primary music schools in the region, to discover young musical talents and to further monitor their work and further affirmation. The castle of Bogdan Dundjerski, Fantast, was chosen as the venue for the competition, and this competition, in addition to the artistic one, also gained tourist significance for our city. Participants compete in 6 instruments: piano, violin, cello, accordion, tambourine and guitar, in seven categories, and are evaluated by an expert jury of three to five members, made up of eminent pedagogues from the country and abroad. The competition brings together over 500 competitors from 68 cities, 84 schools and 9 states.
MAY GAMES
The International Festival of Stage Creativity of Children and Youth “May Games” was founded back in 1958. It is the oldest festival of youth drama in the region. The main goal of this festival is systematic and continuous, more than half a century old, affirmation of children’s and youth stage creation, as well as promotion of the content of the world children’s and youth theater scene, artistic intercultural dialogue and promotion of artistic creativity of young people in general.
BE:FEMON
The Becej Monodrama Festival (BE: FEMON) brings together the most important theater artists from Serbia and the region. The festival lasts for four days during which five to seven monodramas are chosen by the Organizing Committee of the festival. The festival is of a competitive and regional character, and the winner is decided by an expert jury consisting of eminent theater artists. The goal of Be: femon is to affirm the monodrama form as a special type of theatrical expression that implies superior acting skills.
CONTRAFEST
Kontrafest was created with the desire to create a festival that will be different from the existing prevailing mainstream summer festivals. Kontrafest is marked by the genre diversity of rock culture (rock, pop, punk, metal, reggae bands…), which, in addition to well-known author bands, also promote lesser-known bands from Serbia and the region. Along with the performances of the bands, numerous accompanying related events are organized: film screenings, book screenings, tribunes and the like.
SVETI STEFAN – SZENT ISTVAN
The Hungarian Cultural Society “Petefi Sandor” from Becej has been marking the Day of New Bread, the day of St. Stephen. For the last 10 years, the event has been held on the street, in front of our building, with guests from Hungary. The goal of this manifestation of ours is to show how grateful we are for the hard work of our hard-working farmers, who created grain and bread. We want to show that bread is a symbol of togetherness, work, effort and commitment, as a symbol of new hope, faith in a better tomorrow.
